Have a listen...

Ok, I know I haven't updated this for ages,

and people say that it's better to post little and often,

rather than one long, rambling entry, once in a blue moon.

But, feck it, I'm feeling rebellious,

so one long, rambling entry it is!

Location-wise, I have returned to Ireland from London.

Am currently based in Dunboyne with my folks, living the dream!

Well, letting them pay for the heating anyway :)

I have decided to devote myself full-time to the auld racism

Sorry, I mean MUSIC.

In order to qualify for some state support in this regard,

I am currently doing a "Start Your Own Business" course.

It's a bit intense, but I'm glad I'm doing it because there's a lot to consider.

I have decided to set up as a ceremonial singer -

you may have noticed the "ceremonial singer" tab that I've added to the site.

I am planning to sing at weddings, funerals, civil ceremonies etc.

And I've been building up a repertoire of songs that would be suited to these occasions.

So, if you are in need of somebody to perform at such an event,

or if you know of somebody who may be,

please point them in my direction: (www.marieconniffe-ceremonialsinger.com)

I haven't abandoned my own, original work, however.

I've been writing regularly, and have finished a few songs recently that I am happy with.

But, I am still looking for other musicians to play on any recordings I do,

to give the songs a more complete sound.

So, with this in mind, I have set up a musicians' collective,

which is basically a regular gathering of all sorts of musicians,

where they can take it in turns to jam together, see what works and what doesn't,

and hopefully find some like-minded souls to work with, if that's what they're into.

We meet on Sunday afternoons from 3pm to 6pm in JW Sweetmans (used to be Messers Maguire).

Our schedule is currently disrupted because of the Six Nations,

but we should be having our next session on 21st February,

and, if you (or someone you know) is interested in keeping up with developments,

here is a link to our Facebook group: Dublin Music Collective

That'll do pig, that'll do.
