What’s involved in a house concert anyway?
A house concert is exactly that – a concert in your own home. Anyone with enough space can host a house concert. The idea is that you invite 10-20 (or more) friends, family and neighbours to a private concert in the comfort of your own home. Guests are invited to bring drinks and snacks of their choice – you just need things for them to sit on - sofas, cushions, chairs, bean bags etc. You could even host the event outside during the summer!
These events are truly unique – I love the cosy, intimate, informal atmosphere at these concerts. I usually play 2 x 45-minute sets, with a 20-minute break in the middle so that there is plenty of time for people to mingle and to chat to each other and fully enjoy the whole experience. As an artist, I enjoy playing my original songs in such a personal and intimate space, and sharing the stories behind my songs with an attentive audience – and, in return, the listeners get to hear the music up-close and “unplugged”.
At the end of the concert, all the guests you have invited are asked to give a donation, usually at least ten euros. After the concert, people also have the opportunity to buy merchandise and chat to me.
